Temple Evangélique El Roï Construction Update

Construction on Temple Evangélique El Roï began in 2009 and main part of construction is finished. Painting needs to be done and tile and furnishings need to be installed.

The construction was slowed due to the flooding on September 1, 2009. The partially constructed building received only slight damage and one small wall collapsed during the flash flood. [Click here to read about the flooding.] Construction delays were due to weather, lack of supplies and shortage of workers for the job.

ACTS is grateful to the Journey of Faith Church for providing the seed faith money to construct El Roï.

If you or your church would like to designate a gift towards the church building fund we would make sure it is applied to the El Roï building fund.

Photos below were taken in February 2010 and at the end of August 2009.

In 2008 a church was established at the ACTS Center in the village of Saonré. Pastor Kaboré is the pastor. He watches over the spiritual needs of the children at the orphanage, holds evangelistic campaigns for the community, provides prayer and counseling for patients at the Ellel Medical Center and pastoral oversight of Temple Evangélique El Roï.

In just one month this spring, 26 children and adults were baptized at Temple El Roï. The Lord is faithful and looks after widows and orphans. He promises that those who seek Him will find him.

Each month, an average of 300 widows attend prayer meetings and benefit from donations of food. Their lives were enriched through prayer time and Bible teaching.

As ACTS ministers to the physical needs of widows and orphans, they also minister the love of the Savior. There is a door of opportunity open in Burkina Faso for the Gospel to be proclaimed. We don’t know how long the door will be open, so we are working steadily on community outreach.

The church meets in a temporary building with walls and roof made of reed mats. The temporary building is getting small for some services. And during the rainy season, the dirt floor becomes a sea of mud. At times when the floor is too muddy, the church meets in the atrium of the Ellel Medical Center.

ACTS Center in Saonré is dedicated to giving a hand up and not a handout to the forgotten ones of Burkina Faso...widows and orphans.
