On March 9, 2015 the annual six week Sports Evangelism project concluded with its final tournament.

Joanna Ilboudo welcomed the students, parents and other guests while explaining the Sports Evangelism Project to the crowd. The students enjoy the opportunity to participate and celebrate their accomplishments.

This year, out of 14 schools from the Komsilga area, the ACTS’ school Ecole la Solidarity won the cup. The team and students were so excited!

All the finalists received medals, shirts, soccer balls and cookies. Ecole la Solidarity has the privilege of holding the prized cup until the next tournament.

Teams representing 14 schools proudly marched across the field.

The temperature during the match was 108 degrees, but students, villagers, families and staff all braved the heat to see the game. The game was televised and government officials gave their approval of the athletic program run by ACTS Ministry for the youth of Komsilga.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Each team proudly marched onto the field at the beginning of the ceremony. Prayers were given, music by the ACTS worship team was provided and Joanna greeted the guests along with the Mayor of Komsilga (Komsilga would be like a county in the USA).

Ecole la Solidarity received the coveted trophy for the 2015 annual tournament

The Sports Evangelism project spans six weeks with the final event being the tournament for the Solidarity Cup. During the previous six weeks participants from each school came to the ACTS Center to learn soccer basics along with hygiene, HIV/AIDS awareness, training in morals from the Bible and were given a hot meal. The staff prays for each one. They were given an opportunity to hear the Gospel and to accept Jesus as Savior. I have not received the final information on how many accepted the Lord, but I know there are always students who feel the Holy Spirit calling.

Your gifts to ACTS bear fruit. We appreciate your faithful partnership.
